There are many great fighters in the world today which is amazing. The human body is capable of amazing feats of strength and endurance. It's quite impressive to see what men and women are capable of when they are training their bodies for battle on the mats, in a cage or in the ring but I believe this is just a small part of what it means to be studying warriorship. Let me explain further.
There are a lot of people around today who simply don't know who they are, what they're doing or why they're even doing it. Ask them who they are, and they'll tell you their name. Your names are not who you really are, they are words given to you by your parents. Who you really are is so much more than your name. Your values, principles and standards are who you really are. Your purpose in life is who you really are. What you're not willing to tolerate is who you really are. What you're willing to draw a line in the sand against is who you really are.
The problem with society is we have too many tough guys walking around with no masculine frame. They don't have a code of living and they are following instead of leading because they have nothing that guides them, they simply live life through the expectations of others. Forget what they tell you, how many tattoos they have or how hard they train, watch what they do instead. Watch how they treat others who can do nothing for them.
Living with no frame, no "code of living" is a recipe for disaster later down the track. It's how young men and women join gangs, become involved in crime, drugs and alcohol abuse. It's how they go off the rails and we need to, as men and women, be better examples for them to follow. We need to build our own masculine and feminine frame and encourage them to do the same by leading by example.
Studying warriorship is not only about being able to be skilled in unarmed self defence. That's only half of it. Warriorship is about building a code of living to be guided by, living with integrity. Values, principles and standards are the foundation of our masculine and feminine frame. The best part about studying warriorship is, you don't have to be a warrior to do it in the same way you don't have to be a black belt to think like one.
What are your values, principles and standards?
Have you created and built your own code of living?
