Mouko Dojo Brisbane recently held a presentation night to formally present new belts to those who were promoted.
I would like to thank Senpai Rientz Inglis for being an amazing support every night. He is a fine example of the Kyokushin way and will make a fine Shodan. He is attempting his blackbelt grading in June and we are certainly behind him all the way.

Like many other martial arts schools, we have struggled to keep consistency with training times, especially during the peak of it all. Online sessions, training in small groups in parks around Brisbane and being in isolation or lockdowns were the norm. It's great to finally get some structure and consistency back so we can put plans in place to help people reach their goals in Kyokushin Karate.
.
We are in a good place right now. We have a good mixture of junior and senior ranks, those with above average technical ability and muscle, technicians and fighters. Everyone is here for different reasons but we are all moving in the same direction, supporting each other along the way.
.
On the night, was my chance to promote one of our long term members to 2nd kyu, brown belt. It is the first student I have promoted to this rank in ten years as my seniors had to travel to Sydney to be promoted. We have a lot of work to do to prepare young Hayley for Shodan herself but she is more than capable of doing it and I know she is excited for the opportunities that lay ahead.
.
As I said, we have a good mixture of couloured belts in the dojo right now and it's the perfect time for me to prepare some of the senior ranks for leadership roles so they can pass on their wisdom from experience to help the junior ranks progress. I want our seniors to develop their own teaching style and learn how to manage people and personalities in a dojo environment. It's not as easy as it looks and if I can pass on what I have learned trial and error, then I am doing what I am supposed to be doing as a Sensei. Passing on wisdom from life experience to help people win, achieve and succeed.
